In a story that began within a Parisian bookshop in 1826, over three centuries Hachette has published thousands of books and brought publishing houses together all over the world.

Special Edition Books is part of this journey. We bring special and limited editions of the latest books to life, and deliver them to the doorsteps of book lovers just like yourself.

Rather than resting within a single publishing house, we work closely with colleagues and authors across the imprints of Hachette UK to share knowledge and support their vision of devising new special edition books.

This is why our catalogue is so eclectic: we’re privileged to showcase the diversity of our publishing.

Meet the Special Editions team

Our store is run by Ben, Nathaniel, and Cat: a small team of book lovers and publishing professionals, working closely with our colleagues across Hachette UK to bring you gorgeous, premium editions. As well as working on Special Editions, we also support our other online stores, bringing a truly diverse range of books into the hands of readers.

My passion for Special Editions is deeply personal. It began in my grandmother's workshop, surrounded by her hand-bound books and the rich scent of old leather. That early love for beautifully made objects sparked a life-long fascination with physical creativity and craftsmanship.

Since the beginning of Hachette's Special Editions programme, I’ve had the privilege of helping bring these unique books to life. Whether persuading a publishing team to embark on the demanding but rewarding journey of a new edition, or finessing the finer points of its design, my role has always been hands-on.

Today, as I lead our Special Editions and Direct-to-Consumer activities, that same passion drives our strategy. We aim to empower the wider Hachette teams with the confidence to produce ambitious specials, connecting our authors directly with their most dedicated fans. For us, this is the ultimate expression of Hachette's mission: creating the most beautiful gateways to help readers unlock new worlds of entertainment and ideas.

With a background in arts and culture as well as ecommerce, my favourite publishing has always sat at an intersection with art. From self-published zines to experimental artist publications to vintage paperbacks with weird and wonderful cover art, I'm drawn to all forms of written and printed matter - particularly where the content and medium come together to elevate a book into an intentional, tactile, special object.

I've been part of the Special Edition Books team since 2022, and I work to deliver our brand, product, and marketing strategies.

Nathaniel, eCommerce Digital Marketing Executive

I joined the team in February 2025, following a diverse career in bookselling, marketing, and project coordination. At Special Editions, I oversee our website, newsletter, and social media, bringing you the latest information about all our releases.

I've loved beautiful books ever since I got my hands on a Folio edition of The Lord of the Rings as a child, and in my spare time design books and other published projects of my own.
