Special Edition Books 2024 Wrap-Up

What a year we’ve had at Special Edition Books. As we prepare to embark on what promises to be a great 2025, we’re taking a moment to look back and celebrate the last 12 months.
This has been our biggest year since our store launched in three years ago. We sold out of some of our old favourites including Alan Partridge: Big Beacon, The Landscape Photographer of the Year, and The Sinister Booksellers of Bath, but we’ve also launched six brand new special editions! Read on to find out what we’ve been up to…

Spring

We kicked off our new launches of 2024 all the way back in April, when we announced two showstoppers: the Deluxe Edition of Down With the System by Serj Tankian and the Collector’s Edition of Joe Lycett’s Art Hole.
The deluxe edition of Serj Tankian's memoir Down With The System is an extremely limited print run of just 250 copies. The book is quarter bound with a ruby red wibalin spine and black foiling, and also features an exclusive picture section with images from Serj's early life and career alongside extracts from his private journals, making it a must-have for System of a Down fans.

Joe Lycett’s Art Hole features hilarious portraits of some of the world’s most influential and infamous people - Liz Truss, Eamonn Holmes, and Harry Styles, and is sure to delight, fascinate and inspire. The Collector’s Edition is stunningly designed with holographic foil cover and sprayed edges, and is packed with bonus memorabilia from Cerulean lens paper glasses to an exclusive print of a self-portrait of Joe.

Summer

We followed up in August 2024, with the launch of a special edition from another music legend, John Grant.
His incredible new book John Grant: The Illustrated Lyrics beautifully showcases John’s lyrics, spanning all six of his critically-acclaimed albums, alongside never-before-seen personally taken photos. Limited to just 250 copies, The Illustrated Lyrics Special Edition comes with an exclusive photographic print taken and signed by John Grant, as well as alternative cover artwork, a protective clamshell case, and unique photographic endpapers.

Meanwhile, in Still Waters & Wild Waves Angela takes readers with her on her travels across rivers and seas, featuring beautiful paintings and prints, pages from Angela's personal sketchbooks and stunning photos. This exclusive gift bundle includes the hardback book and custom tea towel, showcasing Angela’s iconic print artwork. It is a joyful celebration of water and wildlife across Britain - perfect for art admirers and nature lovers everywhere.
