The classic, haunting tale of Hansel and Gretel, reimagined by literary legends Stephen King and Maurice Sendak, in a beautiful deluxe edition.

We’re delighted to present a lovingly created deluxe edition of Hansel and Gretel, due for release 10th June 2026, alongside a limited numbered version hand-signed by Stephen King, due for release 21st September 2026.

Hansel and Gretel is a must-have reimagining of the Brothers Grimm fairy tale, retold by worldwide bestselling author Stephen King, with artwork by the Caldecott Medal-winning creator of Where the Wild Things Are, Maurice Sendak. Sendak’s illustrations were originally created as set and costume designs for the Humperdinck opera of Hansel and Gretel in 1997.

Features

  • A gold-foiled slipcase developed from Sendak's own sun illustration, keeping your book in pristine condition for decades to come.
  • Exclusive cover art, unique to this edition, sets it apart as a special collector's copy.
  • Five collectable prints featuring art also not included in the original hardback edition, sealed in an envelope with a special message from the Sendak Foundation.
  • Heavyweight paper and durable binding lovingly created for pride of place on the family bookshelf for this generation and the next.

Hodder & Stoughton has the rights only to sell this edition in certain territories around the world, which does not include USA, Philippines or Canada.

Regrettably we are unable to receive requests for specific numbered or written messages in our editions.

How many copies can I order?

Orders for the signed edition are limited to one copy per customer.

Why does the signed edition publish later?

To allow for the production of these limited numbered copies, we will be publishing this edition later in the year, on the 21st September.
